VALLEY FORGE Romance Writers—June 12 “Show, Don’t Tell” Workshop with Anne Frazier Walradt. This workshop deals with the code words “show, don’t tell,” which are used by critiquers (and editors) to explain why certain scenes don’t grab the reader. The problem is, of course, that this phrase doesn’t explain itself, doesn’t show the writer what the critiquer means. This workshop explains what showing is, why it’s used, when it’s used, gives many examples of how to do it, and illustrates the pitfalls along the way. Scene and sequel will also be presented with discussion on how they relate to pacing and when showing and telling work best in those sections
